The wife of the Edo State Governor, Mrs. Iara Oshiomhole, has called on people of the state to imbibe the culture of regular hand washing, in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Speaking at the 2015 Hand Washing Day organised by the European Union (EU) and UNICEF in conjunction with the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, in Benin City, Mrs. Oshiomhole said regular hand-washing was one of the surest ways to avoid infections, especially among school children.

While commending the students of various schools in the state, who participated in this year’s hand washing campaign exercise, she said, “It is important to wash our hands even though it is clean, so to prevent diseases. So you use soap and clean water to wash your hand. Now, you know how we should wash our hand, when we should wash our hands and where to wash our hands.”

She monitored the demonstration of hand-washing by some pupils and gifts were later presented to pupils and schools that participated at the exercise.

The State Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources, Mr. Washington Osifo, who also addressed the students said regular hand-washing was a sure way to avoid the dreaded Ebola disease.
