Worried by the poor academic performance, the Senate of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna has approved the withdrawal of ten post-graduate students.
The approval was taken at the end of 40th meeting of the Senate of the institution to ensure that academic standard of the school was maintained.
The of Head of Information Unit, Mrs. Lydia Legbo, disclosed this on Sunday, that seven of the students were withdrawn for poor academic performance while the other three were withdrawn for their absence from school for two academic sessions without permission from the school authorities.
According to Legbo, “the students have been told to withdraw from the university, for poor academic performance, while others had to, as a result of absence from the university for two consecutive sessions without official permission”.
She identified the names of the students as Muktar Khalid,
Mohammed Kudu, Ibrahim Adamu and Mohammed El-Mamud – all master degree students from Department of Industrial and Technology Education.
Others are Ahmad Nana Hauwa’u, Master Degree Student from Department of Microbiology, Hamza Tauheed and Muhammad Nda Hauwa both Master Degree students from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension Technology.
She stated further that those withdrawn from the institution for being absent from school for two academic sessions were Nwankwo Miriam, Fayenuwo Olaitan and Abdulaziz Bilkisu Zakari all Master degree students from the Department of Computer Engineering.
