The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has described the late matriarch of the Obafemi Awolowo family, Chief (Mrs) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, as a major driver in the national quest for good governance and democratic ethos, through what he called her uncommon support to her husband.
Ahmed who made this assertion during a condolence visit to the Awolowo family in Ikenne, Ogun State, stressed that the political class and lovers of democracy in Nigeria would sorely miss her motherly and stabilising role in the country’s political space.
He said Mrs Awolowo, as a wife, stood firmly and supported the former Premier of Western Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in his political career and travails, adding that such sterling qualities should be emulated by Nigeria women of today.
