The Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant, Nigeria’s oldest and most recognised beauty pageant is back.
This iconic pageant since inception has delivered on producing not only a mind- thrilling show but also carefully selected contestants.
This year’s event, the 39th edition, promises the discovery and crowning of another shining example of Nigeria’s alpha female, an indigenous young woman with inherent attributes of natural beauty, intellectual acumen and motivational vision, poised to inspire her peers in Nigeria and the world over.
A legacy of Nigeria’s oldest newspaper, Daily Times of Nigeria, The Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant was founded in 1957, and has continued to represent the ideals and dignity of the Nigeria woman, a rare combination of beauty and brains, an ambassador for youths and young Nigerian females across the nation, continent and the world.
In her year as Miss Nigeria, the holder of this prestigious title is directed to use this as a platform to further meaningful causes and draw attention to issues inherent within our society, such as health, education, poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, domestic violence and many others.
From Grace Oyelude, the 1957 winner, to Yemi Idowu, 1962, Helen Prest, 1979, Binta Sukai, 1990, Vien Tetsola, 2000, Sylvia Edem, 2002, Ene Lawani, 2004 and to the current title holder, Ezinne Anyaoha, 2013, these women represent a legacy of beauty and brains, icons that are proudly Nigerian.
This November 2015, we embark yet again on another exciting journey in search of a worthy ambassador to uphold the beauty and prestige of the Nigerian brand.
Participants have already been selected from cities across the nation including Enugu, Port Harcourt, Benin, Calabar, Abuja and Lagos.
