Niger NUJ seeks removal of CPS to Gov. Bello

Alhaji-Abubakar-Sani-Bello

The Correspondent Chapel of Nigerian Union of journalists, (NUJ) Niger State Council, has called for the removal of Ibraheem Dooba, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, to avoid tarnishing the image of the state.

Dooba, it was said, had, for some time, been showing unprofessional attitude towards journalists in the state.

This was contained in a letter, on Thursday, signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the chapel, Mr. Wale Mosadomi and Mallam Mustapha Bina respectively, and addressed to Bello.

According to the letter, “We, the leadership and membership of the Correspondents Chapel of NUJ, Niger State Chapter, feel saddened to report the verbal onslaught of the CPS, Ibraheem Dooba, against our members since his appointment as your CPS.

“Dooba has been hostile towards our members in their line of duties to the extent of unleashing security agencies on them when there was breaking news, in addition to threatening court actions on the members of the union.”

They said that Dooba had used all kinds of unprofessional antics, such as blackmail and deceits against professional members of the union, including reporting them to their head offices aimed at getting them sacked.
