‎The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, has accused Governor Olusegun Mimiko of ‎creating a burden on the residents of the state with its imposition of heavy taxation.

Kekemeke made the accusation while christening the ultra-modern 200 capacity and fully air conditioned party’s secretariat hall after a philanthropist, Dr. Taiwo Ebunoluwa Malumi, who is also a chieftain of the party, at the weekend, in Akure, the state capital.

He said the heavy taxation had made life unbearable for the residents in the state as it also negated the pledge made by Mimiko to execute policies that would make life comfortable for the electorate.

The APC Chairman revealed that the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government had impoverished the inhabitants of the state with through its imposition of taxation.

“We have a government that has created poverty‎ and is taxing all. It has induced poverty and is taxing poverty”, adding that every government had become desperate for tax because they had taken some loan and allocations and spent them. Over N1 trillion, has been spent by this government without value adding to the development of the state”, ‎he alleged.

Kekemeke noted that the APC would continue to be the mouth piece of the masses by speaking against the anti-people policies of the government, adding that the party was ready to take over the control of power in 2016 forthcoming election in the state.

“I can assure that next year’s election will be a surprise in the state because our vision is to build a prosperous state,” he added.

He also observed that the party had already learned from its past mistakes of how it lost the recently held House of Assembly election in the state.

Unveiling the gold name-board, at the party’s secretariat, Kekemeke described Malumi‎ as a rare philanthropist, whose immense contribution to the APC State Chapter was worthy of note and celebration.

He explained how ‎the Ilaje-born medical practitioner-cum- politician bailed out the party by single-handedly paying two years’ rent of the secretariat at the time it was in need of securing an office space in the state.

“Dr. Malumi doled out a whopping sum of N5 million naira to bail out the party from the paucity of funds and after securing the nod of the Executive Committee of the party, the hall was officially dedicated to him for being there during the time of needs”, Kekemeke said.

Malumi appreciated the State Working Committee of the s APC for naming the ultra-modern hall after him while he was still alive, adding that the party could only defeat and dislodged the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state by uniting within it in their collective struggle to take over government in forthcoming governorship poll.
