Ini Edo Loses to Chinenye Nworah
Nigerian actress Ini Edo has lost a legal battle over the ownership of the Netflix series "Shanty Town" to filmmaker Chinenye Nworah.
The Nigerian Trademark Registry and Nigerian Copyright Commission ruled in favor of Chinenye , declaring her the exclusive owner of the trademarks and copyrights associated with "Shanty Town".
After the tribunal's ruling, a separate decision by the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) also upheld the validity of the copyright certificates issued to Nworah on July 24, 2024, while the commission dismissed Ini Edo's petition.
Which means Chinenye retains full ownership and control over the movie.
